Each character would have a regular shot, and a strong shot visually represented in animated form.
For Mega Man, it was an obvious choice to have his charging animation more amplified for the strong shots.
I wanted to set up the characters so that their asymmetry would be addressed and honored.
Even if it was something as small as Phoenix Wright's attorney badge, but it would've also been applied to other characters down the line.
Phoenix's strong shot came into the form of being overly enthusiastic.
The 'asymmetrical setup' came in handy in cases like this. (A normal character flip would've caused the text, "Take that!" to flip as well)
FX animation assets I created for various usage.
In order to allow characters from multiple franchises with sometimes vastly different looking art styles to feel cohesive in the same game, the art team went through various design iterations during the early stages.
